What ACTUALLY Happened in 2020
2020… What a year! Here is a little recap of what ACTUALLY happened in 2020:
We started the year with the outbreak of COVID-19, World War III fears, Kobe Bryant dies along with his daughter in a helicopter accident and Australia was on FIRE! All of a sudden, people are fighting each other over toilet paper… if we thought 2019 had been challenging, 2020 took it to a whole different level.
In spring, no one left their home. PJs and Sweatpants were totally in style, and to keep your body moving, everybody joined in on the viral TikTok dances. Who can blame us; there was not much else to do. In March, Harvey Weinstein is finally put behind bars and the US Department of Defence denies once again that UFOs are real.
In May, an act of police brutality motivated the world to stand up and fight for equality. George Floyd, a name our generation will never forget.
Pride Month events took place over Zoom; the most used App this year. Well, besides TikTok.
Then summer arrives, people are going crazy at home so governments allowed everyone to go out again. The World Health Organization was not too happy about that as the pandemic was not even close to being over.
France sees another historical building going down in flames. Also in Paris, Charlie Hebdo is once again the target for violence.
Many countries legalized same-sex marriage in 2020 – Costa Rica, Sark, Northern Ireland etc.
Summer is over and people are getting their hopes up about everything going back to normal.
But, no, no – the second wave is here… Sorry WHO! Autumn = Lockdown in most parts of the world.
In October, Donald Trump is in the hospital due to COVID-19 – or how he likes to call it “a flu”. Shortly after, the US elections take place. Bye Trump, Hello Biden.
By the end of November, the football legend Diego Maradona passes away.
And in a blink of an eye, Holiday Season is here and so is the COVID vaccine. The UK approves the vaccine and the first patient to receive it is a 91-year-old Irish woman.
WHAT A YEAR!
Thankfully, it was an extraordinary year for us at Snob Monkey. Seb Haywood took over the role of Website Development Manager and Sumayyah supporting him as a Web Developer. Katy came to take over Social Media, SEO and much more as a Digital Marketing Consultant. Shortly after, Sandra came along as our Digital Marketing Intern. As the CEO, Umran could not be any happier with the team he has!
The Snob Monkey team took upon multiple projects this year. During the first lockdown, Abu Bakr Supermarkets got their website up and running (including the online store with over two thousand products!) in only two weeks. New companies such as VM Distro and Shop Beds trusted Snob Monkey to take over all their digital marketing matters.
Furthermore, a new partnership with Red Orange Partnership was finalised. The Red Orange Partnership was set up to predominately help small to medium-sized organisations operate as efficiently and successfully as possible.
We have many more exciting projects coming our way, but nothing we can reveal just yet.
