Clever Photoshop Shortcuts You Need To Know
Adobe Photoshop is one of the top leading software that allows you to edit photos and create graphics. But do you know shortcuts to allow you to edit things quicker? These shortcuts will be able to speed up the process of creating your graphics. Here are some of our top Photoshop shortcuts we use while we create graphics/images for ourselves and our clients.
Shortcuts for Adobe Photoshop:
Going a Step Back
Whenever you edit something, you are definitely going to make mistakes. But did you know there is a way to go a step back without having to go to the history tab? With this command you will be able to revert back to step before you make the mistake.
To use this shortcut, press Ctrl + Z (Windows) or Command + Z (Mac).
Going Back Further
Aside from going back a step, if you want to save yourself time than going through history, you can use this quick way to do it. The command above is very limited on what you can see, but to go back further you can use Ctrl + Alt+ Z (Windows) or Command + Option + Z (Mac).
New Document
When you are in the middle of working with a graphic or another piece of work, you don’t want to worry about having to move your mouse to open a new document. With the help of this shortcut, you won’t have to worry about it.
To create a new Photoshop document, use Ctrl + N (Windows) or Command + N (Mac).
Free Transform
Want an easier way to change how your image or shape is looking on your Photoshop document? With the help of the free transform tool, you will be able to do these transformations. Within the free transform tool you will be able to:
- Rotate the image/shape
- Resize the image/shape
- Flip your image/shape.
To do these things, use Ctrl + T (Windows) or Command + T (Mac).
Zoom In and Zoom Out
When creating or editing anything in Photoshop, having a clear look at what you are working on is important. That is why having a quick and easy way to look at your work more closely and faster. This is why knowing the shortcuts to zoom in and out will make you work more productive as you can see from further away or close up.
To zoom in, use Ctrl & + (Windows) or Command & + (Mac). To zoom out, use Ctrl & – (Windows) or Command & – (Mac).
New Layer via Copy:
Did you know there is an easy way for you to make a copy of the thing you are working on and make it into another layer? With the help of this shortcut, you can do this without wasting time. Make sure you have selected a layer before trying this shortcut.
To use this shortcut, use Ctrl + J (Windows) or Command + J (Mac).
Text Tool
Adding text to your graphic or photography can be made quick and simple with the help of this shortcut. Did you know you can easily go to the text tool by pressing ”T” on your keyboard? Now you don’t have to waste time in clicked the text tool on your Photoshop sidebar.
Changing Size of Brush
Getting the right brush size could change the way your image is looking when you have finished editing it. With the help of this shortcut, you will be able to change the size of your brush without having to worry about getting the wrong size brush tool in the beginning. There are two shortcuts that can be used to do this. The shortcuts can decrease the size of your brush or can increase the size it.

Changing Hardness of Brush
Like getting the right size, getting the right brush hardness can change the way your photo/graphic will look once you have finished editing it. With the help of this shortcut, you will be able to change the hardness of your brush without having to worry about getting the wrong hardness brush tool in the beginning. There are two shortcuts that can be used to do this. The shortcuts can decrease the hardness of your brush or can increase the hardness of it.
